It’s been a brilliant week for Newcastle United, with back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Arsenal sending us into Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest on a high.
However, there are now THREE players who’ll be walking the suspension tightrope at the City Ground, with Fabian Schar joining Joelinton and Dan Burn on four yellow cards for the season. Should any receive a caution this weekend, they’d miss our home clash with West Ham on Monday 25th November.
Premier League rules state that any player who picks up five bookings over the first 19 games of the season will face a one-match ban, meaning Schar, Burn and Joelinton must avoid a yellow card in each of their next nine league matches to escape suspension.
Schar has been booked in four of his last five league games and went into the referee’s book on Saturday after kicking the ball away in the first-half of our 1-0 win over Arsenal.
The five-yellow suspension rule resets after the 19th game of the season; a trip to Man Utd on 30th December. All three will do VERY well to escape a ban, although we did see it last term as Bruno Guimaraes managed to go on a yellow-less run for months on end to avoid his 10th and a two-match ban!

Big Joe’s got no chance of avoiding that 😂
