England squad confirmed – Lewis Hall rewarded but two Newcastle stars snubbed

The England squad has been announced ahead of the upcoming international break, where interim boss Lee Carsley has named his final picks before Thomas Tuchel takes charge in the New Year.

From a Newcastle United perspective there’s good and bad news. It’s a massive moment for Lewis Hall, who has been selected by the senior side for the very first time. He joins Anthony Gordon in the squad, but there’s no place for Tino Livramento or Nick Pope.

A well-deserved reward for Hall after his man of the match display against Arsenal last weekend, although it feels harsh on Pope and Livramento, with the former losing his spot behind Jordan Pickford to Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson.

In what is already the third international break of the season so far, the Three Lions will face Greece and Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League over the next fortnight, with Premier League football set to stop for another week after our trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Lewis Hall (Newcastle United), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Southampton), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Angel Gomes (Lille), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Forwards: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Noni Madueke (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Dominic Solanke (Tottenham Hotspur), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
