A new report has revealed that Garang Kuol, fresh from a three-month injury layoff, looks set for another loan move away from Newcastle in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Chronicle are reporting that Kuol faces an uncertain future under Eddie Howe, with the Aussie talent struggling to impress during previous loan spells at Hearts and Volendam.
Howe hopes that a third loan spell could help the 20-year-old finally realise some of his potential. Earlier spells in Scotland and the Netherlands haven’t panned out as previously hoped, but there still remains some hype over the Australian’s future and talent.
The forward travelled with the first-team squad for our tour of Japan over the summer, but a grade three tear to his right quad disrupted his pre-season and derailed his plans to head out on loan ahead of the 2024/25 season.
After returning to full fitness, Kuol has so far managed just 130 minutes of game time this season, featuring in an EFL Trophy game for the Under 21s against Mansfield Town and in a recent National League Cup clash against Tamworth.
When asked about Kuol’s future at the club earlier in the summer, Howe expressed his desire to see him earn more minutes on the pitch. “Another loan spell for him will be important,” Howe said. “He’s had a couple of loan spells now but I think he needs the next one to be a successful one. We need him to play more game time. Hopefully, that’ll happen (wherever he goes).”
It feels like we need to get his next loan right after recent struggles for minutes and form. Hopefully that comes in the New Year and we see the former Central Coast Mariners sensation realise his potential after a tough start to life on Tyneside.
Unfortunately can’t see this kid making it but I hope I’m wrong.
