According to The Telegraph, senior sources at Newcastle United insist they have always had complete faith in Eddie Howe despite the latest links to Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho made it known that he would be open to a return to the Premier League and a recent report from The Guardian suggested that the Portuguese head coach had been asking to be informed about the Newcastle job should it become available.
However, those in charge at Newcastle are backing Howe to succeed – as they have from the beginning – showing unwavering support to the manager who they believe to be ‘one of the outstanding coaches of his era’.
There were a few murmurs of discontent from fans on social media during what was arguably Howe’s toughest period since joining as we struggled to pick up wins against Everton, Chelsea and Brighton.
But after three wins on the bounce against some top teams, any suggestions of doubt in Howe have been silenced and it’s great to hear how supportive the board are being of the 46-year-old.
Any ‘pressure’ on Howe felt premature a fortnight ago and he’s responded in style. The boss deserves time and our full support after proving his quality once again in recent weeks. Hopefully this shows in 2025 and he’s backed in the transfer windows to come.
Why do we want marrinho when we have a manager like Howe
