Newcastle set to transfer list out-of-contract Mag with new deal ruled out – Report

It looks like this will be Martin Dubravka’s last season at St James’ Park after almost seven years at the club.

As revealed by Mark Douglas at the i, Newcastle will listen to offers for the Slovakian during the upcoming January transfer window, realising this could be our last chance to land a small fee for the 35-year-old.

Dubravka is out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season and, with ‘no prospect of a renewal’, he’ll either leave for a small fee in the New Year or depart as a free agent when his deal expires next summer.

Douglas reports that Newcastle had looked to sell Dubravka over the summer, but failed to move on the former Sparta Prague stopper, leaving us with five senior goalkeepers in him, Nick Pope, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy and Mark Gillespie.

Continuing with this many does not feel sustainable –  it’s taking up squad space, adds to our wage bill and must be tricky to manage across training – and it seems Dubravka could be the first to depart if the right offer arrives in January.
The veteran goalkeeper has made just one appearance all season, starting our Carabao Cup win over Wimbledon six weeks ago, and has often been an unused substitute in the league following Nick Pope’s return from a shoulder issue.
Dubravka has made 164 appearances for the club and signed during Rafa Benitez’s stint at the club, keeping 47 clean sheets in that time.
