It’s no secret that sales will (somehow) be key next month, with Eddie Howe admitting that outgoings will dictate how much we’re able to spend across the January transfer window.
With that in mind, it’s interesting to see what Craig Hope has had to say in his latest transfer briefing for The Mail, where the North-East journalist has issued an update on a couple of potential outgoings.
Here’s what he’s had to say, covering the latest on Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron and Martin Dubravka:
Mitchell move attracts interest
As revealed in Craig Hope’s piece for The Mail, Newcastle’s sporting director Paul Mitchell has sanctioned a January move away for Sean Longstaff and put the feelers out to interested clubs and intermediaries.
It’s believed Premier League trio Leicester, Wolves and Everton are all aware of his availability, with Toon chiefs looking to cash in now a one-year contract extension (up to 2026) has protected his value.
Next comes Miguel Almiron, who is attracting interest from Greek giants Olympiacos, Brazilian duo Santos and Botofago, along with MLS side Charlotte FC; who tried and failed to land the Paraguayan over the summer.
Hope reveals that Newcastle are looking to recoup a fee in the region of £10m for Almiron, who is another up for sale in a bid to free up our ability to spend next month.
Dubravka could depart…on one condition
A potential move to Saudi Arabia for Martin Dubravka remains one to watch, but it’s not as straightforward as the Middle East media suggested earlier this month.
Al-Shabab are thought to be keen, but Eddie Howe does not want to sanction a January move for the Slovakian unless Nick Pope is back from injury and in ‘good shape’ after missing our last four games with a knee issue.
Hope also describes Kieran Trippier’s situation as ‘one to watch, but star men Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are going nowhere in January, even if summer interest feels inevitable.
