Alexander Isak is on fire and undoubtedly the best forward – if not the best player – we’ve had on Tyneside since the great Alan Shearer.
He’s now our second top scorer in Premier League history after Saturday’s brace and the man so many supporters up and down the country want their club to sign – not that Newcastle have any intention of letting him go.
In fact, it sounds like the club are planning summer talks to keep him at St. James’ Park for several years to come.
Newcastle set to reward another star man
According to Luke Edwards at The Telegraph, Newcastle will be offering Alexander Isak a new contract at the end of the season and continue to insist he is not for sale at ANY price.
The same report states that Arsenal ‘do not have the money’ to make a serious offer for the Swede and it’s believed no club in Europe has the available cash to afford him.
The star striker has been in incredible form as of late with 16 goals and four assists in his last 15 Premier League appearance, adding two more to his tally this weekend against Southampton.
His good form has sparked rumours regarding his future at the club, but we are remaining firm on our stance that he is not for sale and will be hoping to secure his future in the North East come the summer.
Isak’s future may depend on the Champions League
After Saturday’s fixtures, Newcastle sit in fifth place which is set to be enough to secure Champions League qualification for next season as it stands, and that may just be the different maker we need for Isak to sign a new deal.
There had been suggestions we were previously in talks, though nothing was ever confirmed, and given our poor form earlier on in the season it could well be that the 25-year-old would need the UCL to consider staying.
Very few fans would begrudge Isak chasing European football given how good he can be – arguably Europe’s best striker at the moment – but if Eddie Howe and the board can persuade him to stay it would be as important as bringing in a new player.

Great to hear that Newcastle have no intention of selling off Isaac.
