Newcastle United players have shown their love for the club in the wake of their Carabao Cup final victory.
A squad that proved they care about the striped shirt that adorned their back when they put in a history-writing performance against Liverpool at Wembley have gone on to appreciate the “rollercoaster” ride the club has been on.
Bruno Guimaraes and co. have expressed their emotions after a historic Toon victory ended their 70-year domestic trophy drought. Read the words below, and relish the moment:
Bruno Guimaraes
The Carabao Cup lifting captain Bruno Guimaraes cemented his place in Newcastle history after transforming the team that he joined in 2022. A man who just understands what the club he joined from a different continent means.
In tears on the pitch, Bruno said: “It’s one of the best days of my life; they deserve it. For them this is like the World Cup. People who’ve died, people who’ve grown up and they’ve not seen Newcastle as Champions. Some day when I leave this club I want the fans to sing my name the way they do to Shearer.”
“The fans deserve EVERYTHING… one of the best days of my life!” 🖤🤍

Callum Wilson
Callum Wilson has been with Newcastle through some tough times over the last few years, it’s almost hard to forget in the post-trophy delirium that we were battling towards the bottom of the league before PIF and Eddie Howe came into our life.
Wilson: “From fighting relegation ➡️ to Champions league ➡️ Carabao Cup Champions!! What a rollercoaster it’s been. Finally we’ve added to the history of this amazing club! Enjoy every minute of it, Magpies! 🖤🤍”
Kieran Trippier
Kieran Trippier earned special praise for his time with the Toon after making history with us. Our right-back on Sunday, our captain during a chunk of our recent success, the iconic cup win may never have happened without Trips.
Starting at right-back against the Reds, the veteran took to Instagram to share his reflections on the afternoon – and garnered a comment from Mehrdad Ghodoussi who expressed his gratitude to the man who moved here from Atletico Madrid.
Trippier: “The day we have all dreamed of. Lifting Silverware with @nufc and now Carabao Cup champions. This one’s for everyone who’s supported us. I hope you had an amazing day.”
Ghodoussi, in reply to Trippier: “You were the first and opened the door for us. Forever grateful.”
Fabian Schar
Eddie Howe will likely to go down as a club legend after ending our trophy drought with multiple mastermind managerial performances, and Fabian Schar can more than stake his claim to join his gaffer after his spell with the club.
Schar: “This means everything to me! To win a trophy for this club is all I’ve ever wanted! I know how much it means to Newcastle fans and to everyone supporting us! I love you all 🖤🤍”
Dan Burn
Blyth-born, boyhood Mag Dan Burn celebrated his goal at Wembley and his cup winning victory with the Three Lions squad after earning his first international call-up.
After the Northumbrian giant sat alongside Mackem Jordan Henderson to watch his pinpoint header that opened the scoring on Sunday, he told England’s media team what it meant:
“I’ve had worse weeks.” 😅

Tino Livramento
No Lewis Hall at left-back forced Howe’s hand into starting Tino Livramento on the opposite to his preferred side of the back four, and what a game the 22-year-old had at both ends pushing forward on the big stage.
Tino: “If 90 minutes summed up a city, together from the start till the very end. So proud to be a part of this incredible football club, enjoy your night Geordies, I love you all!”
Last but not least, just look at this clip, featuring an emotional Eddie Howe and Geordie coach Graeme Jones giving it large in front of 32,000 Mags as tears stream down his face.
