Over the next six weeks, Newcastle United’s mission is clear: secure a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
A place in the Europa Conference League was confirmed thanks to our Carabao Cup win last month, but we all know that the ultimate aim is to be back in Europe’s elite competition.
It offers huge financial benefits, will help keep our star men happy and can play a massive role in helping us attract top targets this summer as we look to take this project to the next level.
And, as of last night, our hopes of being in the 2025/26 Champions League were officially boosted.
Champions League bonus confirmed
Thanks to a seismic result in North London last night, the Premier League have been officially awarded an extra place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The top two nations in UEFA’s clubs coefficient rankings – currently England and Spain – are handed an extra place and Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday night meant England can not be caught by Italy in third, no matter what happens in the final stages of the three major European tournaments.
It’s been on the cards for months, but this result finally confirms that the top FIVE in the Premier League will book their place in next season’s Champions League.
The good news for Newcastle is this means our current position in the table (5th) would be enough, handing us a huge incentive to finish the season strongly with eight games left to play.

Current Premier League standings
Following our 3-0 win at Leicester on Monday night, we’re now up to fifth, level on points with Chelsea in fourth and four behind third place Nottingham Forest.
Man City are just a point behind us in sixth and Aston Villa are trailing us by two in seventh, but we do have a game in hand on all of our rivals, which is a tricky home game against Crystal Palace a week today.
