In the modern Premier League, where clubs attempt to portray themselves more as brands with innovative, aesthetically-pleasing kits each and every season, Newcastle’s simplistic black and white stripes still remain one of the very best the league has to offer.
Coupled with a retro-inspired away or third kit, as we have done in recent years, as the kit designers at the club can do no wrong.
However, leaks have begun to emerge online over what one of Newcastle’s kits for next season is set to look like, and it hasn’t gone down well with scores of the fanbase…
A fresh twist on a classic
Content has emerged on X and in now-deleted TikTok videos showcasing what could turn out to be our new Adidas home kit for the 2025/26 season.
Depicting the iconic black and white stripes but with a slight fade in the colours and moving away from a solid stripe design, it’s certainly different to recent designs.

Comparisons have been drawn to Serie A giants Juventus as their own deviation from a solid black and white kit, though their fans and neutrals alike are perhaps more receptive to design changes than the Toon faithful.
And the verdict is…
Regardless of whether or not the leaks depict the home kit or an alleged training kit, the images haven’t gone down well with many supporters.
After the tremendous success Adidas has had this season with the retro-inspired away and third kits, the move to a less conventional home kit would perhaps be a major step backwards, as the results of a recent poll show:
I’ve seen this doing the rounds on the timeline the last few days.

The quality of the proposed leak has been met with a significantly worse response, especially when compared to the rumours of a return to our iconic 1997/98 away shirt.
How legitimate are the leaks?
As with any leak or rumour surrounding upcoming kits, it’s always important to take these with a pinch of salt.
With the Magpies returning to European football this season, it would be expected that the club would once again opt for a plain back approach to meet me legibility rules regarding player names and numbers – something which the leaked kit does not showcase.
Additionally, with Newcastle’s status as an Adidas ‘Local Elite’ club alongside the likes of Roma, Celtic, Leeds and Benfica, it would be hard to see them deviate from the traditional classic design of the solid black and white stripes: the appeal of those clubs’ home kits are their simplicity and classic status.
