Fabrizio Romano: Newcastle talent wanted by Premier League and Bundesliga clubs

According to Fabrizio Romano, several clubs are understood to be interested in a key Newcastle midfielder over a potential summer move.

With such competition for places in the midfield, it’s no surprise that the offer of regular game time elsewhere would be appealing to some players.

But for this player in particular, selling himself could be something we end up regretting massively down the line…

“Several clubs” monitoring Miley

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there are a number of clubs interested in signing none other than Lewis Miley.

Posting on his X account, Romano stated “Several clubs are following the situation of Lewis Miley ahead of the summer transfer window.”

“Premier League and Bundesliga clubs hold strong interest in the midfielder who may find it difficult for game time behind such a strong midfield three at Newcastle.”

One simply has to look at the recent form of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton and realise that, for an 18-year-old still fresh off the injury list, it’ll be a monumental task to break into the starting XI when all three are fit.

But if we were to even consider selling Miley at this stage in this career, it will be a bad move both on the player’s and club’s sides.

Both Guimaraes and Joelinton are approaching 30-years-old: barring a new talent being signed on the level of Tonali in the next two years, then Miley could have a midfield spot of his locked down by 21-years-old.

Then, there’s the Elliot Anderson situation, where the England U-21 has fast become one of the best young players in the league at Nottingham Forest. To sell Miley directly to a rival club who could allow him to develop would be disastrous.

Where does Miley fit in next season?

Looking ahead to next season, Miley will firmly cement himself as the no.1 backup midfielder to the aforementioned trio, with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock soon to be below him in the midfield hierarchy.

And with an increased fixture list coming next season, owing to guaranteed European football and the likelihood we still go deep in both domestic competitions, then Miley will no doubt have a starting somewhere for the Magpies next season.

There’s always something delightful in football watching a local lad progress and play for his boyhood club: it stung when Elliot Anderson left, Lewis Miley leaving simply can’t be allowed to happen.

  2. Most of Romano’s predictions are pure guesswork ..
I was waiting for some so called expert to make this kind of prediction ..its lazy and with no foundation .
Lewis Miley if he does go anywhere will be to a top Championship side to give him more regular game time and there is zero chance of him being sold .
I’m inclined to agree with Darren Bebb though and think he will be playing a lot of games for us next season
