Some breaking news has arrived this afternoon regarding three potential signings at Newcastle United.
Our transfer plans are clearly stepping up as we edge closer to July, where our PSR position improves significantly, and it’s emerged that we’ve now made bids to sign THREE top targets.
As revealed by The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, the club have launched formal offers for Brighton forward Joao Pedro, Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
The report states that £50m deals are under discussion for Pedro and Elanga, while the current offer on the table for Trafford is £25m plus add-ons.
That would be a £125m triple-swoop and moves that tick off three of the four major positions we’re looking to strengthen this summer, but there is still plenty of work to be done.
The good news is that all three are eager to sign and play for Eddie Howe, while their wage demands would not be an issue. However, there is currently a slight gap between our offers and the valuation set by the selling clubs.
But Newcastle are locked in negotiations for all three players and hope to reach a compromise soon, with the club’s recruitment plans gaining momentum in recent days as Howe hopes to have new signings through the door ahead of our return to pre-season in two weeks time.
The club will move on to other targets if deals can’t be agreed, but it really does feel like our transfer plans are ramping up, with other options lined up should our Premier League rivals play hardball.

Not convinced by any of these, but if Eddie can get a toon out them then OK.

PremAnd Up we’ve just got to trust them on this, that’s if report is true. Howe’s record been pretty good so far let’s hope it continues.

Let’s just hope the report isn’t true, particularly for Joao Paedo. He’d rather move to London and have his pick of the 15 year olds there. If we have bid for him hopefully Brighton know they can get more from Chelsea and hold out for a bigger bid, meaning we’ll walk away.
We surely don’t want people like him at the club, and I can’t believe so many fans are happy to overlook his past indiscretions because they think he might be decent for us. NEWS FLASH: he’s bang average at best. Could Eddie improve him? Maybe. Would he split the dressing room? Almost inevitably.
Elanga and Trafford I’d take, but not for silly money. We need to be shopping abroad, much better value to be had.

Not a fan of Pedro .. elanga at £50 million is a stretch though Trafford is s good deal at £30 million. … I hope Howe has got this right ..

I’ve just looked that up. Thanks for flagging Ian. We aren’t Sunderland and we dont want any Adam Johnsons.
