Elanga passes medical but Longstaff bid REJECTED after Leeds’ latest offer

Some big updates have arrived in the last few moments on potential incomings and outgoings at Newcastle United.

Starting with the good news, Anthony Elanga has moved another step closer to completing a move on Wednesday, with the winger passing a medical on Tyneside today.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that all medical checks have now been completed after the 23-year-old arrived via private jet at Newcastle airport on Tuesday.

The proposed transfer worth £52m plus £3m in potential add-ons is ‘progressing well’, with Newcastle officials and the player now finalising the finer details ahead of an official announcement, where the Swede is expected to sign a five-year deal.

Now for the not-so good news, where The Times‘ Martin Hardy claims that Newcastle have turned down Leeds’ latest offer for Sean Longstaff.

While others, including Sky Sports, reported yesterday that a £10m deal plus £2m in add-ons was ‘close’ to being agreed, North East reporter Martin Hardy claims we have rejected the bid.

The Times state that Newcastle feel the player is worth more than £12m given his Premier League experience, despite the fact he is out of contract in less than 12 months.

It’s not yet known if Leeds will return with a new bid, with David Ornstein reporting on Monday that their most recent offer was likely to be their last until other targets were pursued instead.

  1. Transfermarket have him at .€20 million and they are usually low ball prices ., if Leeds want him they have to pay more if not Sean is a good squad player
