Lewis Miley linked with shock Premier League move – Newcastle star ‘restless’ to play

For all the talk about Newcastle becoming ‘better sellers’, there is a limit on who and how many we can let go when we’ve made just one first-team signing all summer.

Sean Longstaff’s exit is imminent, with the 27-year-old set to join Leeds for a deal worth £15m, but another Toon midfielder has been linked with a surprise move.

Crystal Palace have been lurking amid rumours that Lewis Miley was frustrated by his lack of game time last season, and that link has re-emerged.

According to The iPaper, the 19-year-old is ‘restless’ to get more first-team opportunities after injuries and Sandro Tonali’s return limited his game time last season.

He’s thought to be seeking assurances over his game time and Mark Douglas has added to talk of the Eagles’ interest, confirming that the South London club are big admirers of the midfielder.

Newcastle ‘do not want to sell’ and are under no pressure to do so now Longstaff looks set to leave in a £15m ‘pure profit’ deal, but it feels like Miley may need convincing that he still has a big role to play.

Considering all of the above and how this is being played out, this could well be agent-driven and a nudge from his representatives to ensure he is given promises over his involvement next season.

But, with us set to compete on four fronts next season and play at least 50 games in all competitions, a squad will be needed. Yes, he’s currently behind Tonali, Bruno and Joelinton in the pecking order, but he is next in line and will be needed more than ever given the schedule coming our way.

Hopefully this doesn’t become another issue to overcome this summer and the teenager goes nowhere, as we already have one midfield slot to potentially address now Longstaff is leaving for Leeds.

  1. At this stage we can conclude that the journo’s have just upped the let’s make up 🐂💩 articles for click bait.
Utter tosh, he’ll get plenty of game time what with the amount of games this coming season.
I get it when the southern cartel press try to cause mischief with our players but the local press and journo’s from the North East that cover us causing mischief deserve a fat slap.

Or agents are at play trying to get leverage on game time assurances…

    That’s my guess!

  4. Surely this would have been the perfect opportunity to mention Euro requirement for home grown players and the fact that Longstaff leaving cuts our local numbers.

I don’t think agents are bothered about minutes played – it’s more about cash. It’s more likely that they are moving for a salary increase.

  5. He is going to get plenty of game time as numerous games and injuries will appear and he is destined to be an England midfielder in 3 years time….
