Saudi paper posts quotes from Alexander Isak’s agent on Newcastle future

Now Newcastle United’s pre-season campaign has officially begun, and with a tour of Asia on the horizon, many of us will have hoped that we could put speculation surrounding Alexander Isak’s future behind us.

Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t be the case. In fact, it could be about to get a lot more chaotic.

In a new interview, Isak’s agent appears to have addressed the Swede’s short term future, and it makes for some interesting, if not slightly concerning reading…

Isak “analysing all options”

As quoted by Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah, a representative of Alexander Isak has said:

“We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player, without revealing any details regarding whether Isak will transfer or stay with Newcastle.”

With Hugo Ekitike set to sign for Liverpool, Arsenal still chasing Viktor Gyokeres, the only financially- feasible option we can really expect may be a sudden move to the Saudi Pro League.

But the fact the latter is even on the table should be quite a concern for us, and if Isak’s agent is subtly hinting that a transfer could be on the cards will set alarm bells ringing.

Even more agent talk? Or a real concern?

In the past few days, our local media has condemned recent reports and speculation as nothing more than agent talk and attempts to unsettle the player.

But if the player’s own agent is now speaking to the media to fuel uncertainty around his own client, it’s a worry and not what we need.

The potential domino effect of an Isak transfer to Saudi Arabia would be interesting to watch unfold. How would the rest of the Premier League react if we command a record fee for the player by selling them to another club owned by the PIF?

And what obstacles would than then raise for Eddie Howe and the recruitment team?

We’ve already had enough struggles trying to sign a back up striker this window, just how much of an issue could it be signing a starter when every club in world football knows we have money to spend and a gaping hole in our starting XI?

Hopefully this is nonsense and Isak is going nowhere, with a new contract and signings what we need right now, not worries around his potential sale!

  1. The first question is whether it’s real? I don’t think I’ve ever heard his agent quoted before so it’s really odd if he’s spoken to a Saudi paper. I’d be amazed if he went there, at his age and status and with the CL coming up. Loads of time for that. Even before the PIF angle which they must know would ruin the fans trust in the whole project. I call BS….again

  2. Simon Jordan believes this is the agent trying to get more money from the contract negotiations
Whereas some of the click bait media have him already signing for Al Hilal in a “ shock” move.. Liverpool can’t pay and won’t pay £150 million but the agent can attempt to manipulate to his client .. there are no other clubs that can afford him Man City have halland and Arsenal and man Utd can’t afford … probably Jordan is correct given he has seen all of this before .. if the Al hilal story is correct get a £200 million fee would be great … isak next step is another contract imo
