Newcastle injury scare ahead of Friday’s trip to Asia – Cleared up after training photo?

For Eddie Howe, having Alexander Isak back in his squad and fully fit again would be a welcome sign heading into our trip to Asia later this week.

Constant speculation surrounding the Swede’s future is getting tiring for everyone connected to the club, with Arsenal and Liverpool both linked constantly for much of 2025.

It’s even got to the point where Howe chose to keep him out of the media spotlight by leaving him out of our trip to Celtic, even if part of his exclusion was to ‘manage minutes’ for fitness reasons.

However, are those fitness concerns slightly more serious than we first realised?

Isak suffers pre-season scare?

As revealed in a NewcastleWorld exclusive, Alexander Isak has endured an injury scare that has forced him to miss training with the rest of the Toon squad this week.

Speculation spread like wildfire amongst rival fans when a photo of Isak training alone (see below) and away from the group emerged online.

After he didn’t travel to Scotland due to media speculation, it added fuel to the fire, but NewcastleWorld reports that his one-to-one sessions were a result of a slight thigh issue that required scans earlier this week.

It’s a concern that he’s had another muscle complaint after a groin issue disrupted his final few month of 2024/25, but the good news is his scan came back clear, seeing him train away from the main group as a precautionary measure.

Will injury scare have any impact?

Optimistically, Isak potentially not being at 100% fitness ahead of the upcoming season could be enough to deter the likes of Liverpool and Al-Hilal from bidding for the star this moment in time.

On the flip side, we’ll have to hope news of his latest niggle won’t impact our own pursuit of a new striker.

Isak’s injury record isn’t perfect to begin with, so hopefully Brentford don’t play on these concerns and up their demands for current target Yoane Wissa.

Away from transfer situations, however, we need Isak to be back to his best and 100% fit soon, with pre-season minutes in Asia feeling important for the Swede to find his rhythm again

Newcastle play against Arsenal in Singapore on Sunday, where the Gunners may have their own Swede in action as they close in on Vitkor Gyokeres.

  1. Of course it is also possible that he didn’t play, and then he trained alone because Newcastle are in the process of negotiating his transfer.

Oh, and the plural of “month” is “months”.
There’s an “s” on the end of it.

No, not really. He isn’t for sale and he’s very happy at Newcastle. It’s important to focus on the facts rather than spew your delusional fantasies.

You’re getting wound up over a minor typo. Get a grip.
