Newcastle eye Belgian star and £40m striker as Alexander Isak fears grow – Report

If this summer’s transfer window ended yesterday, it would be seen as a major disappointment for Newcastle United fans.

But today’s news has taken an already bad window, and made it beyond terrible.

With Alexander Isak open about his desire to leave the club and ‘explore his options elsewhere’ having reportedly rejected current contract extension talks, it’s a move that’s threatening to derail the club’s entire season before it’s even properly begun.

Eddie Howe and the recruitment team now have the unenviable task of trying to find a forward who can replace the Swede, with one report linking us to one of Europe’s best-performing stars…

Openda eyed up alongside Wissa

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs, RB Leipzig’s Loïs Openda and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa are two names being targeted as we face the possibility of losing Alexander Isak.

Brentford are thought to be seeking £40m+ for Wissa, with reports suggesting that Newcastle preparing a new bid north of £30m for the Congolese striker.

Openda is a new link and may be a premature one as we look at potential options should Isak leave, although his Bundesliga record is impressive.

The Belgian international has 33 goals and 16 assists in 67 league games in Germany, and has also played 25 times in the Champions League, with seven goal involvements in that time.

  1. This has been brewing ever since Amanda was forced out ,Isak was promised a new deal and after that muppet Mitchell came in he reneged on it,much as I’m angry at Isak,I’m even angrier at the club for letting it come to this if you want to tie down world class players you need to pay what they are worth

  2. Just one more point why does everything we do in transfers move at a snails pace with usually no end result, again down to the heirarchy at the club
