A transfer twist few were expecting on Monday as Newcastle United are now working on a deal to sign Aaron Ramsdale.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper joined Southampton last August in a £25m move, ending his time at the Emirates with Arsenal.
Southampton went on to get relegated and Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has released an exclusive on a surprise deal, claiming Newcastle are in talks to sign the England international.
Eddie Howe managed Ramsdale at Bournemouth and it’s emerged that the Toon boss was interested in signing him last summer after our bid for James Trafford failed 12 months ago.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also reported on a potential move, revealing that our offer is a loan-to-buy bid, although it remains to be seen if Southampton would agree to include an option to buy next summer.
He reports that the deal is advancing but there is no agreement as of yet, with Southampton considering a sale but demanding a significant loan fee and purchase price.

It’s a no from me flaps and makes too many mistakes we might as well keep Dubs

We have a global scouting network and know we’ve needed a GK upgrade for over a year and this is the best we come up with?

He’s one of the worst goalkeepers in the Premier League that I can remember. I laughed when Arsenal bought him. And now, after several weak seasons, they’re going to sign him again?! Appoint a sporting director ASAP. These two Howes will cause nothing but trouble
