Two players agree to join Newcastle as club launch ‘official bid’ and face Sesko wait

Newcastle United are clearly pushing for new signings, no matter what happens to Alexander Isak, and it’s all got a bit chaotic.

Earlier this afternoon, we shared the breaking news that Newcastle are in talks to sign Southampton stopper Aaron Ramsdale, along with Mark Douglas’ report on Yoane Wissa, who will be allowed to leave Brentford in a £30m-plus deal if the Bees sign a replacement first.

Wissa is thought to be desperate to join Newcastle and play in the Champions League, threatening to go on strike if Brentford won’t sanction a move, and it seems Ramsdale is also pushing to join Eddie Howe’s Mags.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the England goalkeeper has already agreed said ‘yes’ to a summer move to St James’ Park, stating that an ‘official bid’ has now been sent to Southampton.

He states that it’s a ‘high loan fee’, with his salary covered in full and an option to buy the 27-year-old permanently next summer, although it’s believed the Saints want a higher purchase price.

That said, Romano insists that the deal is ‘expected to happen’, with this following on from David Ornstein’s reports earlier that indicated that a move was ‘advancing’ despite no agreement as of yet.

So, Wissa is eager to sign and could well arrive at a fee in the region of £30-35m if Brentford sign a replacement first, a loan-to-buy for Ramsdale is suddenly close and we are waiting to hear if Benjamin Sesko is keen to join Newcastle after Toon chiefs presented our project to the RB Leipzig striker.

Man Utd are thought to be interested in the Slovenian, so we face another nervous wait to hear whether or not the 22-year-old believes in the project.

  1. Hopefully, Brentford are relenting on Wissa. Ramsdale on loan with an option is decent business. Especially after the Trafford saga.

Sesko remains an uncertain proposition. I think a deal can be done, but only if the player expresses a strong desire to join. If both Wissa and Sesko come, a big if I know, then the Isak situation becomes a lot more palatable.

  2. 120 Million plus Nunez and that’s an unbelievable deal for Newcastle. Potentially having Nunez, Sesko and Wissa plus extra cash for quality CB and another 1 or 2 new faces would turn a terrible window into a moth watering prospect

  4. No to Isak going to a PL club. If no European club interested he has to put up and shut up until end of next season as he signed a contract

  5. Newcastle moving quickly get an England goalkeeper and a striker who scored 19 goals last season put a bid on for sesko to add to Elenga with two teen prospects from Rangers .. and it’s described as “chaotic”.., 🙈😵‍💫🥴. That’s a bit pathetic which rhymes with chaotic
