Newcastle are in South Korea and set to take on a K-League XI in today’s 12pm kick-off at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.
It’s the first game of the 2025 Coupang Play Series and our fourth game of the summer, following a 4-0 win over Carlisle, 4-0 defeat to Celtic, and 3-2 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.
Here is the side Eddie Howe has gone with:
Newcastle XI: Pope – Krafth, Lascelles (c), A. Murphy, Livramento – Miley, Tonali, Willock – Elanga, Osula, Gordon.
Subs: Vlachodimos, Ruddy, Gillespie, Thompson, Trippier, Hall, Schar, Joelinton, Barnes, Targett, J. Murphy, Ashby, Burn, Bruno, Harrison, Hernes, Munda, Neave, Seung-Soo Park.
Jamaal Lascelles captains the side in a defence that welcomes back Tino Livramento and sees young Irishman Alex Murphy start once again.
It’s another chance for Lewis Miley to impress in midfield, while a front three of Anthony Elanga, Will Osula and Anthony Gordon is the same attack that started against Arsenal last weekend.
On the bench, new signing Seung-soo Park features as he hopes to make his first appearance for the club in his home country.
Sven Botman (groin) misses out, but the good news is the return of Lewis Hall, who is back on the bench after he resumed full training earlier this week.
