Huge Alexander Isak news – First Liverpool bid, Newcastle terms and 2026 clause

Huge developments on the Alexander Isak saga have arrived on Friday afternoon.

Liverpool have come forward with their first formal bid, which has been turned down by Newcastle United.

So, who is reporting it and what are the top journalists saying on the matter?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein does not name a figure (more on that soon), but states that it’s Liverpool’s first ‘official’ offer after an approach last month.

He does, however, state that Newcastle have explored a new deal that would include a release clause that would allow him to leave in 2026. But, it’s believed the Swede has indicated that he would like to leave this summer.

Keith Downie at Sky Sports reports that the opening bid is north of £100m, falling well short of our £150m valuation.

Then to Fabrizio Romano, who claims the offer was worth £120m plus add-ons. However, Newcastle are not only insisting on a larger fee, but for a replacement to arrive before we even consider a sale.

That is not a guarantee, though, with top target Benjamin Sesko thought to be favouring a move to Man Utd after serious interest from Newcastle in the RB Leipzig striker.

Romano adds that Isak has made it clear to Newcastle that he wants to join Liverpool, but his wish will only be granted if the Reds up their offer AND a top replacement is signed on Tyneside.

  1. I’m not bothered if we get rid of Isak it would of been easier for Liverpool if they didn’t screw us over, with them buying Entikie from under us. Screw them for every penny you can.
