Benjamin Sesko withdraws – Move ‘imminent’ with RB Leipzig told he’s off on Saturday

Another interesting development in the Benjamin Sesko saga has emerged on Saturday afternoon.

Last night, reports from Slovenia suggested Newcastle may be closing in on the 22-year-old striker, while reports from Sky Sports and David Ornstein revealed this morning that Newcastle have launched a bid worth €80m (£69m) including add-ons.

Newcastle have made their move in a bid to beat Man Utd to his signing, but what we don’t yet know is who the RB Leipzig striker will choose.

One thing we do know, however, is he’s leaving, with Sky Germany revealing just moments ago that he has pulled out of Leipzig’s 2pm clash with Atalanta.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reveals that his exclusion is NOT injury related, but instead because he’s informed Leipzig and his teammates of his plans to leave.

It’s thought a move is ‘imminent’ for the 6ft 5′ Slovenian, who is now set to pick between Man Utd and Newcastle. However, as things stand, it’s hoped Newcastle may hold an advantage after our €80m bid over the last 24 hours.

Hopefully, he now makes the right choice. A move to join Newcastle, Eddie Howe – a manager who has just done wonders for Alexander Isak’s career – and Champions League football, or a move to a Man Utd side who’ve made a mess of developing young strikers in recent years.

  1. Is a young player finally going to put his long term development first and not just move for ££££?? Maybe sesko is brighter than most, or has proper advice not just finance driven agents. Not getting excited yet but interesting to see if we can pull it off

  2. Sesko looks like a very good option for Newcastle United!
With his height alongside BDB it could see us winning more aerial battles in the opposition’s penalty box! If he signs that is and it’s looking quite promising! Let’s hope so!
