Newcastle United have completed their fourth signing of the summer.
After moves for Malaga’s Antonio Cordero, Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga and South Korean winger Seung-soo Park, Aaron Ramsdale is now a Magpie, taking the number 32.
The goalkeeper joins from Southampton on an initial loan deal, which includes an option to make the move permanent next summer should he impress.
The 27-year-old arrives as competition for Nick Pope, signing after our long-term pursuit of James Trafford ended with the former Burnley man joining Man City instead.

Ramsdale reacts to Newcastle move
Ramsdale will be looking to impress, not just to earn a move to St James’ Park next summer, but to boost his hopes of being in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the former Arsenal stopper and current England international revealed how excited he is to sign, play at St James’ Park and work with Eddie Howe again:
“It’s great to be here. I’ve always loved coming here and I’ve seen how passionate and loud the fans can be.
“I’ve always loved playing here at St. James’ Park – I’ve not always had the greatest of results, but when the fans get behind you it’s some place.
“Coming to the stadium and seeing it empty today, it’s quite surreal to think that this is going to be home for the foreseeable future. I’ve got the kit on, it’s got the nice Champions League badge on the sleeve and I’m delighted to be here.
“Working with the manager and his coaching staff again were a big draw for me. They’ve already had a great influence on my career and the gaffer turned me from a man into a professional footballer at Bournemouth.
“He really showed me the ropes so the manager and his coaching staff were a huge selling point for me to come here.”
Ramsdale joined Southampton in an £18m move that could rise to £25m last summer, but couldn’t do enough to keep them in the Premier League as the Saints suffered relegation.
Welcome to the Toon, Aaron!
