Two out, Joelinton in and Park on bench – Confirmed Newcastle & Spurs line-ups

Newcastle play their final game of a pre-season tour of Asia at 12pm, taking on Thomas Frank’s Tottenham in a farewell game for South Korean legend Son Heum-Min.

It’s our second match of the 2025 Coupang Play Series, following on from Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Team K-League and previous pre-season defeats to Celtic (4-0) and Arsenal (3-2) over the past few weeks.

Here is the side Eddie Howe has gone with at the Seoul World Cup Stadium:

Newcastle XI: Pope – Trippier, Schar, Burn, Targett – Miley, Bruno, Joelinton – J Murphy, Gordon, Barnes.

Subs: Vlachodimos, Ruddy, Thompson, Livramento, Krafth, Lascelles, A.Murphy, Tonali, Hernes, Harrison, Elanga, Park, Osula, Neave.

Swap Matt Targett for Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley for Sandro Tonali, and I think that’s likely to be the team that starts against Aston Villa on 16th August, as things stand.

There is no Joe Willock (4-6 weeks out) and Sven Botman (groin) in the squad, although it’s hoped the latter will return for one of next weekend’s games at St James’ Park.

It is good, however, to see Lewis Hall in the squad again after he resumed full training this week, with new boys Anthony Elanga and Seung-soo Park also on the bench.

Tottenham XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Romero, Davies; Bentancur, Gray, Sarr; Johnson, Tel, Son.

Subs: Vicario, Austin, Gunter, Spence, van de Ven, Byfield, Vuskovic, Abbott, Bissouma, Bergvall, Maddison, Donley, Yang, Odobert, Kudus, Richarlison, Lankshear.
