Newcastle United are closing in on the sale of Martin Dubravka.
We revealed in an NUFCBlog exclusive last weekend that the Slovakian goalkeeper was free to leave and in discussions over a permanent exit, with Burnley moving in quickly following Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival from Southampton.
This was quickly backed up just 24 hours later, as Sky Sports revealed on Monday morning that the Clarets were in talks to bring the 36-year-old to Turf Moor.
And today, some breaking news has landed from Keith Downie and Dharmesh Sheth at Sky, revealing that Newcastle and Burnley have now reached an agreement over a permanent move.
Dubravka is currently undergoing his medical ahead of a move to Lancashire, with the wheels well and truly in motion as his time on Tyneside comes to an end.
The goalkeeper completed a permanent move to St James’ Park back in 2018, where he’s seen out seven years at the club, along with one loan spell at Man Utd in that time.
Dubravka signed a new deal at Newcastle earlier this year, although this was more to fend off January interest from Saudi side Al-Shabab, rewarding him for his impressive displays while Nick Pope was sidelined through injury.
A move that makes sense for all parties at this stage of his career, especially with only one year left on his deal.
All the best, Martin!

Not sure we can afford to lose a goalkeeper mind. That will only leave us with 15 in the first team squad

Hold on. Before we let him go, have we tried him at striker?

Should’ve kept him and got rid of Pope, he’s a much better all round keeper.

All the best to him, but sorry no way is he at pope or ramsdales level. If he was he wouldn’t be heading to Burnley, no disrespect
