Newcastle United must now move on from Benjamin Sesko, with the RB Leipzig striker now closing in on a move to Man Utd after opting to join the Red Devils instead.
Some hope that we’ll now tell Alexander Isak he’s going nowhere in light of this news, but with player power a factor and the Swede clearly wanting out, it’s rarely that simple.
Instead, if we’re to move further down the list of potential alternatives. Having missed out on Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and now Benjamin Sesko, we must consider which other strikers are on the market.
One is Nicolas Jackson, and The Telegraph report that Newcastle could now make a move for the Chelsea striker.
Mike McGrath reports that the 24-year-old Senegal international is a ‘serious option’ and a name that ranks highly on our list of alternatives now £70m Sesko is set for Man Utd.
It is a link that has left many fans on social media uninspired to put it mildly, as the inconsistent, sometimes erratic and ill-disciplined forward does not feel like a suitable replacement for Isak, in the eyes of many.
Last month, the i reported that Newcastle would be willing to pay around £60m for Jackson, but a lot will surely demand on Chelsea’s asking price.
The Blues are, however, open to selling the former Villarreal star, with a sale likely now Liam Delap and Joao Pedro both joined earlier in the summer.
Jackson has scored 30 goals and bagged 12 assists in two seasons at Chelsea, managing 34 goal involvements in 65 Premier League games.

I rather just play Osula instead of signing Jackson. His not the right character for our team. Why aren’t we looking at woltemade from stuttgart. His will be a legend for our club and wouldn’t wanna leave if a big club unless it’s on our terms. Bayern came for him, and didn’t make a fuss. Bayern didn’t get him, bcuz Stuttgart wanted 60m. He was brilliant in the euro u21, Def my player of the tournament. This is type of player and more character we need in our team!!!!!

Just maybe Mitchell was right?

Wow, I really hope this isn’t true. What about Ramos or Aghehowa? Or as Wolfie said, Woltemade? Get Wissa done and sign one of those three, it gives them time to learn the league. How can we hope to compete with the likes of Chelsea if we’re signing their unwanted, lacklustre players? This would be a big step backwards.

I hope not. He’s absolutely awful!

How far we have fallen when we even consider signing Jackson. Not only do we buy an inferior player but we also enrich one of our competitors in the cartel. Speaking of which it almost appears to be a conspiracy against us by the cartel to ensure we do not improve our squad, I am also wary of Liverpools tactics in trying to undermine our relationship with Isak. Did they tap him up ?
I thought Isak was a relatively smart individual but it looks as though his agent has conspired with L’pool to enrich himself, and Isak has fallen for this ruse.

Once a fan always a fan, but this would make me wonder if Eddie really is the man to take the club forward, there are dozens if not more players I would rather take than Jackson.
We would in essence be paying Chelsea the money they spent on Delap and Pedro and taking in their garbage.

Just keep isak until January and start the search for his replacement now. It’s Alex’s own fault he/we find ourselves in this situation. Don’t reward him with a move to the champions when he’s caused this much drama. He won’t down tools and stop trying because liverpool won’t come back for him. It’s too late to bring in a quality replacement and I’m not sure there’s many to choose from.

Niko Jackson isn’t the one.

said it before, bring Amanda back on board, let her do the negotiating and see if there are any better results in recruitment, the problem is the gap between negotiations and the yes men are too far apart, thinking we have lost out on one person doesn’t give us the right to think the next target will sign, getting fed up with the wait between identifying a target, and looking to the next because we have messed about. Solid negotiating is required by respected personnel. Bite the bullet and hire her and hubby to make a solid team and look like we are working professionally, for the sake of not being left behind.

Newcastle are in a mess. Can’t get any signings over the finish line. Martin Dubrakva who I rate highly more than nick pope has been thrown to the dogs. Where’s the loyalty now days. And then we have a striker who wants out and has shown total disrespect to the club. I feel for Eddie Howe. Fingers crossed for the new season.

Agree, I always thought Dubs better than Pope. Pope is a good shot stopper but that’s it, also I worry about injury with Pope.
