Another big update has arrived on Wednesday regarding Newcastle’s ongoing attempt to sign Malick Thiaw.
Conflicting claims have emerged on Newcastle’s bid, but Sky Germany insist that the club have come in with a €30m (£26m) bid for the AC Milan centre-back today.
Not only that, Sky Germany’s chief reporter, Florian Plettenberg, has followed that with a significant update a few hours later.
He reports that Newcastle United have now reached a ‘full agreement’ with the player over a four-year contract, signalling that the player is very much interested in signing at St James’ Park.
That is a positive step on the player’s side, but what that does not guarantee is a deal being agreed between Newcastle and AC Milan.
On that note, however, Sky Germany do report that discussions are ongoing between the two clubs over a fee, even if new Milan boss Max Allegri would like to keep the 23-year-old at the San Siro.
Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are also thought to be admirers of Thiaw, meaning Newcastle could be dragged into another transfer battle if a deal can’t be struck quickly. Although that may not be easy if Milan really are reluctant sellers.

I don’t believe this one either. This will no doubt trundle on while Milan hold out for another club to come in and offer more money for him.
They should have three on the go at once and leave the septics guessing who we really want. Or say to Milan how much do you want and we’ll give you our figure. If we can’t reach an agreement in 24 hours good bye.

Won’t happen. We had our chance earlier in the window when they’d agreed a £27m deal with Como. We could’ve stepped in then and got a bargain. Instead, we sat on our hands and now Milan want around £40m. He’s not good value for £40m, and we’ll now waste the next week or two arguing over the price just to walk away.
