Malick Thiaw is on his way to Newcastle United, and has briefly spoken about his imminent move to St James’ Park.
With a £34m deal agreed – £30m plus add-ons – and the player set to sign a four-year deal once his medical on Monday is complete, the 24-year-old has been filmed arriving at Linate airport ahead of his flight to Tyneside.
The German international was stopped by Sky Italy, discussing his decision to join Newcastle and his time at AC Milan:
Thiaw said: “Newcastle? Yes, I am very happy, but it has been a pleasure (at Milan). I’m ready for the Premier League”.
“These three years have been a pleasure. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve grown as a footballer but also as a person. I wish them all the best, to all of the people I spent time with here – the players, the staff, media and doctors.
“My best memory? Tough but I think our Champions League campaign, reaching the semi final.”

Thiaw was not involved for Milan today as they lost 4-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, instead returning to Italy to pack his bags ahead of a Sunday night flight to Tyneside.
Speaking to Sky Italy earlier today, Milan boss Max Allegri discussed his exit, admitting his disappointment at seeing the 6ft 4″ defender leave:
“Thiaw? It’s a shame he left. It’s unfortunate that he’s leaving,” Allegri said after failing to keep him at the San Siro despite his best efforts.
“The club is working to find a replacement, that’s the transfer market you have to accept it and keep working.
“In the squad I have excellent players who have made themselves available to one another.”
