After a dragged out summer saga, it feels like sooner rather than later we’ll be able to call Yoane Wissa a Newcastle United player.
With Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson out of equation currently, Eddie Howe’s in desperate need for a new goalscorer in his attack, and who better than the man with the joint-second most non-penalty goals in last season’s Premier League.
Wissa’s been pushing for a move to us for weeks now, and whilst it may have soured his relationship with current club Brentford and their fans, he’ll no doubt be embraced very warmly by the Toon faithful for being one of few who has pushed to sign!
However, there was almost a late twist in the transfer saga, which has only endeared Wissa even more for his commitment to joining us…
Liverpool’s looking at Wissa?
According to Sky Sport’s Keith Downie, Liverpool have showed some late interest in poaching the Congolese forward.
However, it’s thought Wissa is desperate to join Newcastle and has already agreed terms, meaning a move to Tyneside appears all but done should Brentford land a replacement.
Speaking on his YouTube, he said: “He’s verbally agreed personal terms there, they’re not going to be an issue – he’s desperate to come here.”
On Liverpool’s reported interest, Downie added: “Believe it or not, I’ve actually been told from one source that Liverpool are showing some late interest. But he’s not going there. I’ve been told only Newcastle for Yoane Wissa. He’s decided that’s his destination.”
“He’s desperate to come here to St James’ Park and play Champions League football next season. That’s what you want to hear. From players like that.”

Who was the source, Wissa’s agent looking for bigger fee? Wissa is not Liverpool quality.

More likely Liverpool are trying to hurry us up into signing Wissa to greatly increase their chances of signing Isak.
One of the reasons I’d love us NOT to sell Isak to Liverpool is this (and I’m sure others must have thought this or posted this)…
Go back a few weeks and we were looking at getting Ekitike, and playing him alongside Isak if successful. Now, you can definitely imagine Liverpool and other big clubs thinking that they can’t be having that. That it would mean a real threat to the top 3. You could picture Slot and co saying “why don’t we try to totally reverse the scenario?”. I could be wrong, but wouldn’t put it past them.
Hoping we sign Wissa then refuse to sell Isak to them until we get a second striker or minimum 140M.

The source is Sky Sports’ Keith Downie – did you even read the article or just come here to peddle your partisan claptrap.

Put Liverpool in the title of a article and they come running like rats down a drain pipe, the obsession is getting worse from them frothing at the mouth because we dare to say our player isn’t for sale.

I’m guessing now Liverpool haven’t won it, it’s not a real trophy now though 🙄😂.
Glorified pre season friendly now Liverpool haven’t won it.
Sharpy17(Quote)
I guess Liverpool don’t like playing at Wembley, what a shame! Maybe Isak will think again about the team that won’t win everything!
Peter Beaumont(Quote)
I’d love to see us flog Isak in the winter window to anyone other than the perpetual victims. He can rot in the reserves until then.
Peaco(Quote)
Isak should be put in the Newcastle reserves for a couple of years let him see his time out there. Newcastle deserve better from a professional who helped make him.
RG(Quote)
All joking aside, people talk that Isak wants to go to Liverpool to win things.
I remember last Christmas time the same people saying Slot was on for the quadruple in his first season as Liverpool sat top of this new CL format.
Fast forward to the beginning but f this season and Liverpool have failed to win 4 of the 5 competitions they’ve been in.
I’m pretty sure Klopp had a poor record as well actually.

For sure it’s gonna be a bit lively at SJP on Monday 25 th innit !!!

Bonnylad(Quote)
Seeing as ye want Isak that badly i cant understand why you dont just pay the amount being asked or at least much closer to the required figure. Its not as if after winning the league the club havent got the money.

You sour jordes will be back in the championship soon so shut the claptrap we don’t need isak to finish above you
Dave Harris(Quote)
I would rather Liverpool, sign 2x centre halves than buy Isac, Liverpool defensive needs far outweigh buying Isac.
Liverpool dont need someone who disrespects the club there playing for in the way he has done so.
Let him go back to the training ground with his tail between his legs, begging for his place in the team

And stay at a team that won’t win anything?
Mike James(Quote)
Liverpool still need an attacking player, lost 3 and brought in 1. The defence definitely needs sorting though I agree with that.
Mike James(Quote)
Still more chance of winning something at Liverpool than Newcastle, hell, even more chance of winning something at Everton than Newcastle.
Let isak go, you played this game with Gordon and accepted him spitting his dummy out and refusing to play but now don’t like when it’s happening to you. Small club.
