Former Newcastle cult hero Allan Saint-Maximin has endured quite the rollercoaster experience since he left the club back in 2023.
Having been transferred to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli, he struggled to adjust and was later loaned to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, where he had a mixed time of it in both the league and Europe.
But his time in Turkey ended in dramatic fashion, accusing the club of providing him with doping agents , which Fenerbahce have furiously denied.
And now, Saint-Maximin is set for a surprise switch to an entirely new club and continent, something not many fans would have expected…
Former Mag moves to Mexico
Allan Saint-Maximin has completed a £9m move to high-flying Mexican side Club America, as he hopes to finally regain some of his electrifying form.
Arriving into Mexico City and being met by a large crowd, Saint-Maximin has reportedly agreed a four year deal, and has expressed his immense gratitude to the locals for their immediate support.
In his first words for his new club, the 28-year-old stated “Happy to be in Mexico, thank you to the fans for this welcome.”
Since leaving Tyneside back in 2023, he’s found both goals and assists hard to come by, so we’ll all be hoping that the beloved Frenchman can finally regain some form in Mexico.
For all of his talent, Saint-Maximin has only managed eight goals in two years since leaving Tyneside back in 2023.
But good luck to Maxi. An exciting player to watch and enigmatic character who will hopefully settle in Mexico!
Despite your statement to the contrary I think most fans would agree that Maxi never had “electrifying form.”
He played the occasional good game, demonstrating the odd trick but “electrifying form” would suggest a run of good, consecutive games, which he never had.
