Newcastle’s summer has sprung back into life this week, with Malick Thiaw sealing a £34m move from AC Milan and Jacob Ramsey currently on Tyneside to finalise a £40m-plus move from Aston Villa.
All eyes have now turned to strikers and it looks like Yoane Wissa’s proposed move to Newcastle United will finally click into gear in the coming days.
The domino effect we’d been waiting for was kickstarted last night, as Brentford agreed a £42m deal to sign Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara.
Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that Wissa’s camp received assurances that Brentford would engage with Newcastle and sanction a move to St James’ Park should they bring in another forward.
With that now happening, Newcastle are ‘moving quickly’ to land Wissa, reports Craig Hope, with significant progress expected over the weekend to finally land that Callum Wilson replacement.
Writing on X, Downie said: ‘Newcastle are expected to move quickly on Yoane Wissa. We are told Wissa’s reps were assured Brentford would engage with #NUFC if they got movement on forward reinforcements.’
A deal worth £35m has been mooted, as we reported last weekend, and the DR Congo star’s representatives are in discussions with Newcastle in a bid to finalise personal terms, which are unlikely to be a problem.
As Craig Hope adds, Newcastle have waited for the situation to play out, knowing Wissa is so keen to sign, despite rival interest rom Spurs, Forest, NEOM and Al Nassr.

Really want us to sign Wissa!
Cant compare him to Isak.
Wissa had an agreement last season he can go play UCL football and really wants to come to us.
Wissa as far as I am aware is not on strike and our 35 million bid is fair.
If Liverpool bid 150 mil or close to it they would have saved all this mess as we would probably have Etike.

Scumpool never really wanted ekitike they just didn’t want us to have him and I predict he will be a flop for them, another nunez

We should offer Isak to PSG with Ramos coming the other way.
Surely PSG would be interested and means Isak not going to Liverpool.
Win Win of you ask me.
