Newcastle’s striker search continues to twist and turn, with two arrivals required if a sulking Alexander Isak has any chance of leaving for Liverpool.
But, regardless of the Swede’s wish to leave, Eddie Howe must bring in one forward to replace Callum Wilson, with the current squad lacking any available striker beyond a raw Will Osula; as Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa proved.
A move for Yoane Wissa is becoming complicated by Brentford’s £50m demands, but a familiar name has re-emerged today via The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
He reports that Newcastle retain a ‘firm interest’ in Wolves striker Jorgen Stand Larsen, who is in a small group of forwards being targeted by the club.
Ornstein insists that a potential deal is not advanced and discussions are taking place via intermediaries, with club-to-club talks yet to start.
Crucially, the 25-year-old is keen on a move to St James’ Park, which may have given Newcastle encouragement to pursue a deal. However, Ornstein insists that the Norwegian international will not look to force an exit out of respect to Wolves.
Craig Hope has previously reported on an asking price in the region of £65m, showing this will not be a simple deal to do for the striker at this stage of the window.
Larsen scored 14 goals last season and looked a threat in Wolves’ opening day defeat to Man City over the weekend.
I would love him to sign. Proper no9 who scored 14 goals for a poor Wolves team (0 pens) and did alright at Girona the year before. Only problem will be the fee (shock!) Wolves probably wont sell for less than £60m and that seems a lot for . If we could strike a deal for around £50m I think its good business.

I honestly believe this lad could be a superstar under Howe, I’d happily pay 60 for him, especially after a season in the prem.

Too much discussions and not enough serious actions.

Joseph – I agree. All this chitty chat needs to be official bids at this stage of the window – I like this kid and 14 goals in a poor Wolves team is a really good – put a bid in!!.
Ramos is an excellent player – put a bid in!!.
Wissa is a good player – we have yet to make an official second bid. Put our maximum offer on the table and make them make a decision.
Jackson could definitely do us a job – offer a loan to buy 🤷🏼♂️.
But do something FFS!!!

Isak to Liverpool for £110m plus Harvey Elliott.
£60m on Strand Larsen, £35m on Wissa.
I’d be happy with that window after the way it’s went this summer.

That would be sound with me too..plenty of goals, strengthened the squad and got rid of the snake. Win win win and effin win.

From what I’ve seen I prefer Jackson and Wissa really. But I could well be wrong as I haven’t seen too many Wolves matches.
Problem is I can see Wolves asking 70M or something over-the-top.
We probably do need to way overpay for any striker right now.

Ifni was them i would be on my hands and knees at Staveleys door she was ruthless in pursuit of players and direction for the club.
