New Yoane Wissa twist – Sky Sports reveal three-deal domino effect involving Newcastle

Newcastle United may be pushing to keep Alexander Isak on Tyneside for one more season, but that doesn’t change our need for at least one striker.

A £50m bid for Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen was submitted and swiftly rejected on Monday, however, there is confidence a deal could be done after positive discussions.

But, it seems all is not lost just yet regarding Yoane Wissa’s potential arrival on Tyneside, with our drawn-out pursuit of the DR Congo star taking another twist today.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reveals that Brentford are now working on a deal for a potential replacement, with Borussia Dortmund set to play a key role in salvaging his proposed move to St James’ Park.

A three-deal domino effect could be at play. Wolves forward Fabio Silva is close to joining Borussia Dortmund, while Brentford are interested in signing Dortmund striker Maximilian Beier.

Should both deals go through, it would open the door for Wissa’s exit, with Sky Sports revealing that the 28-year–old is hoping a move to Newcastle United can still go ahead.

Brentford’s lofty demands of £50-60m would then come down, you would expect, but a lot has to happen in the coming days to make this possible.

The Bees must replace him, lower their demands and strike a deal with Newcastle, who had a £40m bid rejected last week. All the dominoes could fall, we just don’t have long to find a resolution, which explains why Strand Larsen has been pursued as an alternative.

  1. Absolutely glorious:
We should buy Beier and stuff em.

That would be funny. Beier has some half decent numbers for his age, this could be a breakout season for him. If Isak was still onboard with us would be worth a punt but I think Howe needs a PL ready striker.

  2. 60m Larsen 40m wissawe prob still owe 30m on isak
    Sell isak for 125m-130m
Would give us a stronger set of strikers than isak and Wilson and more reliability

This is key. The aim should never be to try and get an individual as close to Isak but build a more quality, reliable squad

  4. Why not go for both Jackson (CF) and Nkunku (no10) from Chelsea as they should be used to training together and both have premier league experience playing in the same team? This would allow them to settle in and acclimatise quickly. Nkunku with his fine control could be devastating with Jackson taking the pressure off him!

That’s not the worst shout of Nkunku was a reasonable fee. Has payed loads of positions, I’ve just had a look at his Transfermarkt career profile and it’s very strong. Could cover Jackson while he’s at AFCON
