Newcastle United’s striker search has taken another major twist on Thursday evening, it would seem.
With a move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa stalling and Wolves seemingly unwilling to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen unless two new strikers arrive at Molineux, it’s claimed that Newcastle has moved its striker search to Germany.
In a shock update from Craig Hope on Thursday evening, it’s claimed that Newcastle are now pushing to sign Stuttgart star Nick Woltemade.
As revealed in his latest exclusive for The Mail, sources in Germany are now indicating that Newcastle are ‘closing in on a deal’ for the 6ft 6″ striker.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer and was expected to hold out for that move.
However, with Harry Kane currently their star man and Nicolas Jackson closing in on a loan-to-buy switch to the Bundesliga giants, the door may have opened for Newcastle to sign the German international.
As Hope states, it would be a huge coup for the club if they landed the tall but technically gifted striker, who was one of the star players at Euro U21 after scoring 17 goals in 33 Bundesliga games last season.
Time will tell and updates will follow, but this would be an impressive move after the club saw £50m and £55m bids rejected for Strand Larsen earlier this week.

I hope this is true much better option than Larsen would be a bit of a gamble as he’ll take a bit to get up to full speed which makes me think we’re still in for another.
Absolutely glorious(Quote)
Twice the player sesko is in my opinion. Would love those signing

AG – that’s the thing mate, Larsen is at least PL proven.
Wouldn’t mind getting this lad if we had a Wissa in as well – a different PL proven forward who could give this lad a chance to get up to speed with the league.
It was my biggest concern with Šeško. He looks a decent player but we don’t need a prospect, we need a ready to go.

Get him in! For heaven’s sake, everybody left in the EPL will lift our leg for £20m more than their c/f is worth. so if he’s young, scores goals and is available at somewhere near what he is actually worth (here, I’m just guessing, of course), he’s for us. I hope.

So what’s the chances of getting this lad in as there are only 4 days left and Newcastle haven’t been able to get a striker in wether it be for isak or Wilson replacement in over a month as usual leaving it till last minute

He’s on his way over tonight for a medical tomorrow by all accounts, please god, let this be true!

A powerful signing. A Bayern Munich target, a German national team player. They pulled off this deal surprisingly quietly.
This player is an alternative not to Šeško, but to Ekitike. In terms of style and level, he and the Frenchman are roughly on par. Šeško is weaker, in my opinion.

Delighted we’ve got this kid, he was class at the U21 Euros. I still can’t decide who is the most divisive player in NUFC history… Isak, Owen, Bellamy or Barton (Joey not Warren!)

Isak all day long, at least Owen pretended to be injured and not make public he didn’t want to play. But they are both a pair of *%&$S .
