Newcastle talent set for surprise move? – Two clubs in France pushing for late deal

There will be plenty of movement up and down the Premier League over the final days of the transfer window, which will shut at 7pm on Monday.

Senior additions are needed, particularly up front, but Newcastle could let one young attacker leave, with a certain Academy star receiving surprise interest ahead of the deadline.

As revealed by The Mail, Trevan Sanusi is wanted by Ligue 1 duo Le Havre and Auxerre, who are both keen to take the 18-year-old on loan.

Ben Jacobs also reports that Le Havre have shown ‘concrete interest’ in the exciting England youth international, who could benefit from a season at senior level after shining with our Under-21s.

Sanusi was one of the breakout talents from our pre-season campaign last summer, but had a stop-start 2024/25 season after picking up an injury.

Last summer, Eddie Howe admitted it was “too early” to loan out the tricky winger, but that stance may have changed a year later, especially now Park Seung-soo is likely to stay with our Under-21 side this season.

Speaking about Sanusi last August, Howe said:“Personally I think it’s too early to loan him. The biggest thing we have to do is to develop his talent and to keep improving his game – but also develop him psychically.

“I thought he did well tonight. I think he’s got bits to learn, of course, for someone his age. Tactically he’s got things to improve.

“We’ve got to build him up physically to protect him and to make sure he’s robust enough to deal with the rigours of the Premier League. But he’s left a positive impression on us and I’m really pleased with him.”

  1. We’ll either have an abundance & people not getting game time or have a dearth & look stupid for letting people leave, even if just on loan.
If we don’t get a striker in, Gordon will spend most of the first half season at CF then we’d need back up for injury prone Barnes & without starting games we don’t know which of Sanusi/Seung Soo would be better to stay. Even then the prospect of a game roughly every 3 days between Sept 15 – Jan 10 is a worrying one.
On the other hand if Wissa + Strand Larsen come in (& Isak agrees to start playing) we’ll have an overload of players who can play the wide positions as Wissa has played across the front 3 for Brentford & JSL starts at LW for Norway since CF’s occupied by Haaland (this flexibility is also something Howe covets) esp on the LHS.
Need to delay any potential loan for Sanusi to transfer D-Day.

  2. Also, Wissa + JSL coming in this window would mean we’ve given up on integrating Isak into the side long term as the spend would cross £100m for those two & we’d need to balance out that d**n thing called PSR either in June or latest by next season with a big sale/sales & it’d be foolish to sell highly committed players like the ones we saw on the field Monday night.

However if only one of them was to come, then as of now we’ve put all our eggs into the basket labelled ‘Isak’s comeback’ (& a quick one, considering the pile up of games from Sept 15 onwards) & in case that doesn’t work out then get the other one in Jan.

  3. Our youth recruitment has been awesome since PIF took over and Trevan could be the best of the bunch. I think a loan to France would be ideal for him as he will soon be in and amongst the first team regularly
