40 days ago, the bombshell exclusive arrived from Craig Hope on Alexander Isak, claiming Newcastle United’s previously adored No. 14 wanted out.
A month later, his actions have been appalling, his legacy is ruined and his legendary status well and truly in the bin.
Can I understand why he may have fancied a move to Liverpool? Yes. However, there is a way of going about things, and his approach towards this proposed transfer has stunk all summer long, not only impacting our pre-season preparations but also the start of the season.
He’s let down the club that paid a club-record fee to sign him after a six-goal season in his last year at Real Sociedad, disrespected the manager massively responsible for his rise, binned off his teammates and sacked off the fans who worshipped him for his own selfish gains.
Alexander Isak is an excellent footballer who has now got his wish, but his character will forever be questioned by the way he’s handled a saga that’s spoilt what could’ve been a big summer on Tyneside.
When you consider how Ebere Eze and Marc Guehi have acted in the build up to proposed moves over the past month, it shows you everything you need to know.
Where Isak threw his toys out of the pram, refused to train, released inflammatory statements (only to save face on the PFA awards night, not to apologise) and left his team, manager and fans in the lurch, Eze and Guehi gave their all until the end.
The Swede has scored 62 goals for us in 109 appearances, helped us win a trophy and been part of some memorable days, be it wins at St James’ Park, Wembley scenes or that Carabao Cup parade on the Town Moor.
However, after 40 days of undoing all the good work he once did, his legacy is tarnished, he’ll now be booed on his return and never hold that legendary status he could’ve enjoyed had he just returned some of the loyalty we’ve shown him over the past three years; which have been comfortably the best of his career so far.
Alexander the great? Not anymore.

He doesn’t deserve any farewell messages. Thanks for the record-breaking money, and now **** off. We’re moving forward 🙂

Do you feel the same way about Wissa??

Isak’s story is the story of a man who will not only put his own needs first ( which is a common trait) but also of a man who in the pursuit of his own interests will suddenly undermine friends, leaders, the community, his colleagues and an institution that represents hundreds of thousands of people. He won’t be a legend at Newcastle because people won’t want to tell their kids his story. He is an embarrassment to himself and the supporters. He could have continued to play and have left this summer as a good example but choose from the start to embarrasse Eddie Howe and the club from the moment he decided he wanted to leave. The only defense is that newcastle should have rewarded him with higher pay sooner but PSR prevented that and gift wrapped him for team we beat to win our first cup in 70 years. After next week it will be like he never existed.

The news is saying you can from space the fans burning their Alexander the Great flags.

Not being a legend at Newcastle must really hurt
Westend Boy(Quote)
Newcastle left him no option, they messed him about first and broke contract promises, yet he played a full season, that’s called loyalty. It’s easy to say he should have gone about it different ly and got his move, but the club outright said he is not for sale at any price when Liverpool enquired. If he didn’t kick up a stink he would have not got his move and been pushed to sign a new contract on far less than he is worth. His behaviour was poor, but the clubs was just as much to blame. Loyalty works both ways.
Dave(Quote)
Not as much as being a perpetual scouse victim I guess.

Yes

Well most reasonable people don’t like to leave a job being labeled a rat. Especially if they were good at their job. In normal walks of life anyhow . Wissa wasn’t hated when he left. Says a lot too
Newcastle(Quote)
Well…no. Loyalty would be honoring the contract you sign, like Trent did. Get your death threats ready for three years time when he does the exact same thing to Liverpool. At least you can’t say you weren’t warned.
Kenny(Quote)
I don’t think Isak gave the club a chance. From our perspective he was being offered a new contract in summer when suddenly he wasn’t on a plane for pre season, with his face on every poster. He was suddenly driving down his value. The not for sale thing came later. If it was later in the window I could see your point.

A message for NUFC blog:
Lick my hairy bean bag.
Yours Juicily,
Alexander Isak!
Ye ma(Quote)
Much as I resent selling a player to a competitor at a discounted fee, Isak made his impression earlier in the season. In 14 Premier League games since January, he scored 4 in open play plus 5 penalties.
On the plus side, Liverpool will suffer when PSG or Real come calling.
Isak will forever be an absentee when the club has reunions to celebrate our first trophy for years. He turned his back on the platform that made him a prolific season following 6 goals for real Sociedad.
We have also done well to sign Woltemade in his place. The German lad has much more talent. Wissa also scored more goals from open play last season. Onwards and upwards for us!

If you want me to lick your hairy sack you will have to pay a brittish record fee. No complaints.

Not becoming a legend on Tyneside may not matter to those outside the club circle. But let’s see how things go if he doesent provide the top class results that have been paid for by a club that seldom develops anything.
The expectation is massive. He is now suddenly world class. He wasn’t at Newcastle as that’s not possible for anyone at Newcastle to achieve.
Even Alan Shearer as the players simply can’t because of who they play for.
But they will soon turn on him if he’s a waste of money. He won’t have a manager and players behind him or supporters at that club. Many of whom support the team in the same way they buy designer bags.
The little birdy(Quote)
Well he has gone thank god who is to say he will have the same effect on Merseysjde as Tyneside people mike think I’m nuts but I don’t think he will be dosent have a Eddie Howe at Liverpool he doesn’t score the first 3 games pressure on good riddens to him great business nufc

Being a self entitled, corrupt so called big six club, doesn’t mean you can poach any other club’s players without permission is desperate and pathetic, what happened to fair and open competition?
Run off, and build the so called Super League, we would better off without you !!
PEDSTER(Quote)
Us as fans have done nothing but worship the guy and in return, not even a thanks, a farewell or acknowledgement of our support over the years. He’s just a mercenary after a big pay day and easy silverware. Those like Isak often forget that we have to work a lifetime just to earn what they earn in a week and a match day ticket for a family can be a weeks wages. All we ask is for some respect and acknowledgement of what we give to support these ‘superstars’. Yes, you have gripe with the owners but remember, we worshipped the ground you walked on, unconditionally but now you’ve blown it. Deleted yourself history books. Good riddance

Sure we’ll miss him, but for the media to continually print he won us the Carabao Cup and missing out in becoming a legend is rubbish. I remember the Dan Burn goal, and being a local lad more than Isaks goal.
Just let it rest.

You carry on believing that,,
MorpethMag(Quote)
It’s debatable what went down on new contract and all. Nonetheless, he handled it miserably and I am frankly shocked the club caved without a written transfer request for a price why under what they’ve stated.
Will be a very bad precedent going forward. No one will believe if NUFC tries to play tough, they’ll cave.

We have had a good transfer window. The owners have made the right decision. In a sport where PSR allows one club to dictate to another club through conspicuous silence on matters that are nothing todo with that club, largely supported by the media , where anther clubs hands are tied through dodged rules , it’s a decision that has reaped 130 million. 20 million more than was 1st offered.
They have brought a number of top players into the club. In my view he was either inconsistent or didn’t bother his backside from December 24 onwards. He seems injury prone and has shown questionable attitude.
Excellent bit of business.
The little birdy(Quote)
Gotta love all these plastics on here frothing at the mouth obsessed with what we think.
Not one mentioning how they went off the deep end when Suarez downed tools to get a move and Gerrard for that matter, i mean just look at how some of them acted with TTA when he did it legit.
But then what do you expect from that fanbase, just ask Juventus fans and even their own who they robbed and beat for champions league final tickets what they’re like …. classy bunch.
Absolutely glorious(Quote)
Both, total scumbags with no respect for NUFC or the fans !!
To Isak, nobody knew who you were or even cared about you until we signed you, Eddie improved you, trusted you and we fans worshipped you, and, you leave with no acknowledgement of this !!
What a guy, you should be ashamed of yourself!!

isak left to find a better team ,because he doesn’t want to wait another 70 years for a trophy he’s a game winner and if it wasn’t for him newcastle would still be waiting for a trophy . at liverpool he will be winning a lot more and he will never walk alone , newcastle are just sore loser’s
john(Quote)
Newcastle already made it clear that 200k is their absolute ceiling when it comes to salaries.
They also pointed out that Isak is a 150m+ player.
They expressly stated that he was not for sale.
3 major points in this saga. Now no one knows what was discussed with Isak last season. Newcastle state that they made no promises. Isak states otherwise.
So one of them is lying. I would think all agree on that. So who is lying? Let’s use common sense…
Whenever a player has a great season the majority of teams reward them with an improved contract. Well Isak has had 2 great seasons and no reward. He was supposedly promised a new contract but your Tech Director left and the replacement said no new contract. Name me a player who wouldn’t be miffed at this point? The no was probably largely down to PSR but it also shows that Newcastle have already rescinded on a promise of a new contract. To have no improved terms for 2 years shows that Isak has outgrown the club as they cannot afford to pay him what he is worth. There was talk of new contract talks AFTER Isak kicked up a stinker but:
1. It was too little too late
2. It was a non starter as 200k per week for a 150m striker is peanut wages.
Let’s put Isaks salary into perspective. Rashford took a massive pay cut to join Barca but still earns more. Luke Shaw and Maguire earn more. Heung Min Son earns more. I could go on and list alot more players who aren’t fit to lace Isaks boots but earn more than he does.
Any good agent would have already informed Newcastle that their client deserves improved terms. When these improved terms didn’t come to fruition as well as Newcastle making it known that they have a strict wage structure the agent would have kicked up a stink on his clients behalf. The fact that nothing came out in the media until Isak started is antics proves that a promise was probably broken. If Newcastle had not made the promise, Isak would have kicked up a stink much earlier in the window and he would have probably handed in a transfer request.
Have you Newcastle fans not wondered why you struggled to complete most of your transfer options? Newcastle pay peanuts compared to other top 6 teams.
If you are Isak and your approaching your prime years, your firing and producing the goods.
Firstly you want to be remunerated at a similar level to your peers. Secondly you want to win things.
Newcastle are a few years (5) away from consistently winning trophies. In 5 years’ time Isak will be past his peak. Newcastle are also about 5 years away from being able to attract and pay the type of players whose wages are around 300k to 400k per week.

Newcastle tried to get Ekitike while keeping Isak,so Liverpool said ” ok 4D chess,we will get Ekitike and then buy your boy Isak ” Newcastle fans then went onto say ” We only bid for Ekitike so use couldn’t buy Isak ” Well what a bunch of Amateurs Newcastle have turned out to be,and let’s not sugarcoat so of your fans saying truly shocking things about Liverpool people and the club… DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR FROM A SMALL CLUB…Enjoy your last Champion’s League campaign, because use will be lucky to even get into Europe…Peace
Mr D Jones(Quote)
I’d largely agree with this to be honest….but considering the psr and restrictive trade practices that led to Isak going on strike and not playing games, not even giving up a loyalty bonus and undermining his own value is what makes his decision to down tools more despicable. Nothing shows that he had informed the club he was leaving prior to ekitike deal and he didn’t put in a transfer request. He caught the club off guard and didn’t work any normal channels. All is fair in love and war but Isak is a ***** by anyone’s standards. You are getting a top quality player but unlike a gerrad or carragher, Isak will always be playing for Liverpool because it paid more…he will kiss the badge and demand more money. Based on the way he played against Liverpool especially he has no desire to play for Liverpool except money and if he wants to win trophies it probably more about the bonuses he will earn rather than any sporting integrity. Will be pull his socks up when things aren’t going well…let’s see
Newcastle(Quote)
Gordon was hated by his own fans at they time and they thought 40 million pulled Newcastle pants down
Shane Henry(Quote)
You really are bothered by this aren’t you….along with quite a few other visitors tonight. I nearly said from the NW but probably not let’s face it
You missed the most crucial fact. He signed a 6 yr contract, no release clause. As it suited at the time. There’s no excuse for this behaviour. He had only had 1 good season when he demanded a new deal and started twisting, he was told it would be sorted this summer but he had other ideas. He’s very entitled but he wasn’t entitled to anything. Don’t sign up if you aren’t prepared to work for the full term…simple
