Alexander Isak is gone, sealing a Premier League record move to Liverpool in the final hours of deadline day last night.
His social media posts and first big Liverpool interview offered zero respect back to Newcastle or the fans who worshipped him for three years, continuing the lack of class we’ve seen all summer.
Newcastle’s 37-word statement on his exit was justified, given the way he’s downed tools over the past five weeks, refusing to train or play while earning £150,000 per week.
Two of his Newcastle teammates, Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman, have reacted to his exit with posts on their Instagram stories, leaving Newcastle fans wondering why they haven’t read the room just hours after one of THE most disrespectful transfer sagas.
Gordon said: “Regardless of the situation & what’s gone on. It’s been a pleasure to play with you. One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate. I wish you nothing but the best brother. ❤️”
Botman said: “What started off as teammates growed in one of my rare best friendships. No more words needed brother, all the best in your next chapter @alex_Isak ❤️”
Are Botman and Gordon still allowed to be friends with Alexander Isak? Of course. Some things are bigger than football.
But does this seem like a stupid thing to post hours after one of THE most disrespectful exits in Newcastle history? Yes.

They will be the next out to ‘more ambitious clubs’. For the right fee I’d be happy to sell both in different windows.

Isak & Wissa have set the benchmark now for players not honouring contracts.
TAA at least let his rundown before jumping ship.
The sad things is if the player doesn’t perform and nobody wants them they can hang around bleeding the club until the contract is finished.
The clubs also look after those players through injury, sometimes for long periods with very little in return.
I think the toothless FA need to look at both situations and put some stringent but fair rules in place to stop abuse by both clubs and players.

We’re not in the playground now.All friends do things you won’t like but it doesn’t stop the friendship. We wouldn’t have got where we did last season without him(even though he’s an arsehole),and now he’s someone else’s headache.Onwards and upwards.

Isn’t it perfectly fine for them to be friends and wish each other well? While they may not agree with his tactics or those of Wissa, this is football. Off the pitch, are we really naive enough to believe that anyone associated with NUFC must sever connections with Isak?

Where did I say the friendship had to end?
“Are Botman and Gordon still allowed to be friends with Alexander Isak? Of course. Some things are bigger than football.”
No issue at all with that, but they can text/call/whatsApp him – the public post just riles up Newcastle fans and appears like they haven’t read the room at all.

Time to move on Olly it’s been all summer long and I know I’m fed up hearing it everyday as I’m sure the majority of our fans are.
Besides it’ll get rid of the obsessed plastics that have stunk the place out all summer.

Agreed. Let’s get behind the lads and back to it. Onwards and upwards.

As long as Gordon & Botman perform to the levels they are capable of at Newcastle they can be best of mates with whoever they want.
Gordon definitely had his head turned by Liverpool the summer before but that was probably down to Newcastle and PSR, he took a long time to get his head straight and show his true form.
He is the player I trust the least temperament wise after his Brighton FA cup sending off, his lunge at the VD against Liverpool and how he left Everton.
A loose cannon imo.

Totally agree with both your posts Joseph.

It would have been more appropriate if Gordon and Botman had of kept their messages to Isak private. Nobody in their right mind would think that Isak wouldn’t have made lasting friendships among his Newcastle teammates but what was the point of making them public.

He is bound to of made friends whilst playing for us, I have no issue with that, I do agree that they could of read the room better a bit better .
Anyway we should not get too bogged down with it, fed up talking about him now .
