The future is looking incredibly bright wherever you look at Newcastle United.
The men’s senior squad are back in the Champions League, the Women’s team are a firm favourite to be promoted this season, and our youth sides boast some of the best young talent in the entire country.
Newcastle United’s Under-18s are no exception, having enjoyed a strong start to their U-18 Premier League campaign.
Faced with a tough test away to Liverpool U-18s on Saturday afternoon, a topsy-turvy affair saw the Toon teenagers prevail for a big three points!
Toon stars edge seven goal thriller
Goals from Matthew Taylor, Alfie Seldon, and a heroic brace from striker Kacey Wooster saw us prevail 4-3 against the young Reds, who themselves almost completed a dramatic comeback.
Newcastle Under-18 XI: Mair, Bloomer, Durrant, Old, Moran (Yeutembip 67), Taylor (Pattison 90), Waddani, O’Donovan, Hutchison (Gilligan 90), Seldon (Pinnington 67), Wooster.
The hosts took the lead just before the half hour mark through Finn Inglethorpe, before Taylor brought us back level.
But the second half was a far more rollercoaster affair, as we stormed out of the gates with two goals in less than ten minutes through Seldon and Woodster to make it 3-1.
The game was far from over however: Liverpool brought themselves back level with just ten minutes to go thanks to goals from Joe Bradshaw and Scofield Lonmeni.
As Liverpool were pushing for a winner, we capitalised and launched a swift breakaway, with Wooster claiming his second of the afternoon our fourth overall in the 89th minute to secure a huge three points.
It was quite a weekend for England youth star Isaac Moran, who not only left Liverpool for Newcastle over the summer, but seemed to enjoy getting one over his former club if his Instagram post was anything to go by!
Young Mags up to third
In handing Liverpool their first loss of the season, our young Magpies now sit in third place in the U18 Premier League table.
Only Manchester City and Manchester Utd sit ahead of us, owing to their respective 100% records, but Chris Moore’s lads are the only other team so far unbeaten in the entire league.
Next up for our youngsters are Stoke City’s U-18s next Saturday, with the derby away to Sunderland on the 18th of October.
In the same fixture last season, we ran out 3-1 winners away from home, and with how vastly improved we look to be compared to last campaign, some more big score lines and results are certainly on the cards going forward.

Nice article. Could we have a full teamsheet. It’s good to see the whole team honoured, not just the goal scorers
