Osula, Bruno & Ramsdale start! – Confirmed Newcastle line-up vs Bradford City

The team sheets are in at St James’ Park ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with League One leaders Bradford City.

Eddie Howe’s Mags take on Graham Alexander’s Bantams, who are looking for another cup upset after beating Championship side Stoke City 3-0 in the last round.

Here is how the two sides line up, featuring several changes from Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Bournemouth:

Confirmed line-ups

Newcastle XI: Ramsdale – Krafth, Thiaw, Botman, Hall – Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Elanga, Osula, Gordon

Subs: Pope, Trippier, Lascelles, Tonali, Barnes, Livramento, Woltemade, Willock, A.Murphy

It’s a much-changed XI from Howe as we kick off our defence of the Carabao Cup crown, with seven changes from the trip to the Vitality Stadium just three days ago.

Lewis Hall, who notably missed the final against Liverpool, makes his first home start since the 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest earlier this year.

Lewis Miley, who himself shone in that win over Forest, remains in midfield. The two Brazilians Joelinton and Bruno also return after a much-needed rest at the weekend.

And Aaron Ramsdale has been handed his first competitive start since joining on loan from Southampton, having only been featured during pre-season.

Bradford XI: Walker, Pennignton, Byrne, Kelly, Halliday, Power, Leigh, Touray, Powell, Pointon, Humphrys

Subs: Sarcevic, Cook, Metcalfe, Neufville, T.Wright, J.Wright, McIntyre, Lapslie, Hilton

The visitors meanwhile, in their hopes of causing an abrupt end to our trophy defence, also make a number of changes from their latest win over Cardiff City.

The one to watch will be veteran midfielder Max Power, who has played nine times so far this season, accumulated four yellow cards, and of course played over 100 games for Sunderland.

Howay the lads!
