NUFCBlog understands there will be no further update on the stadium until next year, despite “positive” talks involving the Freeman and fresh engagement with stakeholders deemed a “priority”.
But we can reveal that any new stadium, which remains the most likely outcome, could now feature a “Wembley Way” style plot, with “Stack-like” offerings for fans.
This could prove to be an effective way to significantly boost Newcastle United’s matchday and non-matchday revenue. One source has suggested that the club could capture margins that currently go to city-centre pubs – increasing the average spend per head on matchday by creating tiered spending options.
At a glance, if the club were to introduce a plot of land similar to Wembley Way, these would be some of the benefits:
- Extend fan dwell time
- Increase non-matchday economic activity
- Increase commercial and partnership opportunities
- Community integration
- Urban regeneration
NUFCBlog has previously revealed that the club were studying the Allegiant Stadium. The multi-purpose stadium is located in Nevada and the home of NFL side the Las Vegas Raiders. It was opened it 2020, can host up to 65,000 supporters and sits adjacent the world-famous Las Vegas strip.
NUFCBlog have also reported that any new stadium is expected to have a capacity of at least 70,000, according to early planning outlines.
This is still subject to change, but this would be a huge step forward in offsetting the current supply and demand issues of match day tickets. NUFCBlog has recently been made aware that the waiting list for corporate boxes is 10 years, with the cheapest option coming in at £40,000 per year.
Fans have every right to be excited about the upcoming stadium developments, which has been described by one source as “transformational”.
We can also reveal that there is a host of “significant” new stadium sponsorships being lined up, some of which may not be finalised until a new stadium is built.
The club’s owners are likely to explore related party opportunities for stadium rights and as recent acquisitions by PIF have highlighted, there is potential for some big partners.
We can also reveal that, there was an “NUFC Partners” meeting held at Matfen Hall last week, reinforcing the club’s commitment to expand off the pitch.
