Newcastle United’s summer window was dominated by the Alexander Isak saga, his eventual £130m move to Liverpool and our late rush to sign two replacements.
However, away from permanent ins and outs, we saw several project signings and Under-21 talents leave the club on loan to gain some valuable first-team minutes.
As we reported earlier this week, it’s been a tough time for Travis Hernes at Groningen, and Trevan Sanusi’s injury woes have kept him out at Lorient, but it’s been a nightmare start to life in Belgium for Spanish winger Antonio Cordero.
After arriving at Newcastle from Malaga over the summer, where we beat a number of La Liga giants to his signature on a free, he joined Belgian Pro League side KVC Westerlo on a season-long loan.
Three months on from his arrival, he’s played just 98 minutes of football in three months, and Marca’s Matteo Moretto has revealed that Newcastle are now weighing up whether to terminate his loan spell. Speaking on Radio Marca, he said:
“He’s not getting much playing time, and the English club is considering terminating the loan.”
Cordero played regular at Malaga last season, bagging six goals and six assists in the Spanish second tier before starring for Spain’s Under-19s.
However, since then, he’s not started a single game for Westerlo and played just four minutes of league football over the past seven weeks, missing out on their matchday in three of their last four games.
Whether that’s on him and his performances in training or down to his new loan club is unclear, but it feels like recalling the Spaniard and finding the right move in January could be a wise move.

Bring him ‘back’ and show him some love. He probably feels forgotten about and regretting signing for us. But we can turn it around and get him back on track with a bit of attention.

What is wrong with our loan department year after year horrible confidence sapping loans that set our young players back years in their development.
No other club has this issue we’d have been better off signing Cordero then loaning him straight back to Malaga, at least he’d have got regular game time.
Loan department needs sorting out asap or what is the point of signing these talented youngsters that everyone else is after if our loan department hamstrings them.

Is Ameobi responsible for loan deals? If he is he had better get his finger out! Cordero on loan to a nondescript Belgium outfit, he hasn’t been on the bench for the last two games! He must wish he had never heard of Newcastle! Bragging about his signature and beating Real Madrid and Barcelona to it, then sending him on loan! Newcastle certainly know how to spoil young talent. Look what happened to Garang Kuol, two disastrous loan spells in Scotland and then dumped. Newcastle keep signing these talented young players but do they ever make it? My advice to any young player is never sign for Newcastle!

It may be better to offer our talented young players on loan to local lower league and non league clubs .
I’m thinking clubs like Harrogate, York , Carlisle ,Hartlepool , Gateshead even South Shields and Spennymoor. We could even offer to loan them for free in exchange for guaranteed game time.
Playing locally will allow us to closely monitor their progress and determine who is likely to make the jump into our first team squad.

Young player in a good league barca and top European clubs sniffing around.. the world at his footballing feet .. goes to Newcastle sent out to a poor league and gets no playing time .. that’s how you destroy a players confidence and hopes and waste a clubs investment .. amoebi or whoever made these decisions should be sacked
