Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media this morning, offering an update on injuries ahead of our Boxing Day trip to Man Utd.
In his last press conference before Christmas, the boss gave a pretty encouraging update, even if there are slight doubts around a few players regarding their availability for Friday’s game.
The club believe they’ve got ‘good news’ on Tino Livramento’s knee injury, and hope to have him back training ‘quite quickly’, but Howe was reluctant to give total clarity on that while they do all the final checks.
Nick Pope could train today and has a chance of returning from a groin issue, while Sven Botman (back) is ‘not far away’, but hasn’t trained as of yet.
Joelinton is ‘closer’ to getting back on the pitch after playing no part in any of our games since that 2-2 draw in Leverkusen, suggesting he might just be in contention at Man Utd after managing a groin issue.
Elsewhere, four remain out in Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth and Will Osula, with the latter not only managing an ankle issue but tipped to depart as Frankfurt discuss a loan-to-buy deal for January.
Howe on Livramento –“It’s a difficult one because there’s quite a bit of information on Tino. We’re waiting to get full clarification. We’re hoping it’s not serious at all and he can resume training quite quickly. But before confirming that, we want to be sure that we’re right. We haven’t got clarity on that but hopefully it’s good news”
Howe on Pope – “He hasn’t trained yet but we hope he might train today.”
Howe on Botman – “Sven is doing well and we hope to get him back pretty soon. When that is we’re not sure but we don’t think he’s too far away.”
