Official update on Joelinton and Bruno injuries – Eddie Howe speaks from Paris

After stormy weather delayed our flight by several hours, Newcastle have landed in Paris ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with PSG.

Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media from the Parc des Princes, starting with an update on Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton’s fitness.

Bruno has travelled and will undergo a fitness test in Paris over the coming hours to see if he can return from an ankle injury suffered in last week’s 3-0 win over PSV.

This suggests that we’ll assess the captain when training at the Parc des Princes around 6.30pm tonight.

It’s good and bad news on Joelinton, as he’s avoided a serious injury but will be missing for a “few weeks” and has not travelled, with the Brazilian set to get a second opinion on the groin problem picked up in Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa.

“Joe won’t make the game, he has had a scan, we don’t think it is a bad injury.

“But we think he will be out for a few weeks. He will miss a few games.

“Our other Brazilian, Bruno, is with us, and we will know more in the next few hours.”

Elsewhere, Dan Burn and Will Osula are back with the group once again, while Tino Livramento, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth remain absent.
