It was a busy day across the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday saw Newcastle lose 2-1 at Man City, missing a chance to close the gap on seventh-place Brentford after they lost 2-0 at home to Brighton, with Chelsea also slipping up in a 1-1 draw to second-bottom Burnley.
On Sunday, North East rivals Sunderland were in action at home to Fulham, with sixth-place Liverpool away to a relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
Th good news was Sunderland missed their chance to go above us, losing 3-1 to Fulham in a match that saw their injury issues pile up. Reinildo Mandava was already ruled out, but a bruising 90 minutes at the Stadium of Light saw Nordi Mukiele, Jocelin Ta Bi, Brian Brobbey and Romain Mundle all forced off with injuries just a month before the derby.
So, the Mackems remain on 36 points, behind us only on goal difference, but Fulham’s win does send them on above us and into 10th, while Liverpool also extended their lead over the chasing pack with a late 1-0 win at Forst.
Alexis Mac Allister’s late strike means Liverpool are now NINE points clear of Newcastle in sixth, giving us a mountain to climb considering the Reds have winnable games to come against bottom half sides West Ham, Wolves, Spurs and Brighton in their next four.
After defeat for Sunderland, a win for Liverpool and three points for Fulham, here is how the Premier League table looks ahead of Everton (9th) vs Man Utd (5th) tonight.

Do not lose Eddie Howe we won’t get a better manager will be back on the merry-go-round of who can replace who don’t listen to the people that can’t have vision
