Newcastle United eyeing international defender valued at £5 million

Newcastle United are currently considering a move for Blackburn Rovers star Grant Hanley, according to reports from The Chronicle.

Having dispensed with the services of long serving duo Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini this summer, Newcastle United are currently in the market to sign a new defender and a host of names have unsurprisingly been linked with a move to St. James’ Park in recent times.

Now in fresh rumors emerging from the Chronicle, claims have been made that Newcastle are plotting a move to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley.

Hanley has been one of the most consistent centre backs in the Championship over the past four seasons and he enjoyed a fine campaign last term, making 44 appearances.

It is now believed that Hanley is keen on a move away from Ewood Park this summer and the Sun recently reported that the 24-year-old will cost interested clubs around £5 million.

Newcastle need a quality defender with experience in the Championship and the Scottish international could well be a very good acquisition for the Magpies.
