According to reports, Newcastle United have made a loan enquiry to sign Orestis Karnezis from Italian outfit Udinese.
Newcastle United seemed to be well stocked in the goalkeeping area heading into the current Premier League campaign due to the fact that the Magpies had the likes of Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow, Tim Krul and Matz Sels present in the squad.
However, it now looks like Newcastle will need to bring in a new custodian during the final days of the transfer window as Sels has been allowed to make a move to Anderlecht on loan while the likes of Darlow and Krul continually get linked with moves away from St. James’ Park.
Greek international Orestis Karnezis has been mentioned as one of the targets for Newcastle during the past few weeks and according to reports, the Magpies are said to have placed a loan inquiry in an attempt to sign the 32-year-old this summer.
Karnezis has fallen down the pecking order at Udinese, having not feature in the club’s first two Serie A outings this season and he could well prove to be a good signing for Newcastle if they are able to get the deal through.
