As reported by the Northern Echo, West Ham United are open to paying out Rafael Benitez’s £6million buy-out clause at Newcastle United to land the services of the manager.
Newcastle United endured a very disappointing transfer window and despite many promises, the club did not sign any new players during the deadline day.
The lack of activity has incensed the Newcastle faithful while manager Rafael Benitez would also have been left very frustrated as he was certainly expecting to strengthen his squad during the final day of the window.
Due to the transfer debacle, it has been widely reported that Benitez could now well walk away from Newcastle but in order to do so, the Spaniard will have to pay between £5-6million in compensation as stated in his contract.
Therefore, it is unlikely that Benitez would be walking away but the Northern Echo have reported that West Ham United, who are interested in the 57-year-old, could pay the amount as a buy-out to acquire his services.
Current West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is widely expected to be dispensed with in the coming weeks and the Hammers hierarchy are said to be ready to splash the significant £6million to land such a high profile manager like Benitez.
