Exclusive confirms club have opened talks over potential new deal for in-form NUFC man

The Chronicle have broke an exclusive this afternoon, confirming that the club have opened talks over a potential new deal for in-form defender and club captain Jamaal Lascelles.

The 23-year old’s current deal is set to expire in 2020 and The Chronicle have revealed that the club are keen to secure his services.

Lascelles has helped us to back to back wins and clean sheets, putting in a man of the match display at Swansea yesterday, being vital at both ends with a goal saving clearance and match winning header.

He is clearly a key figure off the pitch and it was great yesterday to see him show just what a key player he can be on it.

Following his impressive display there has been calls for an England call up for the captain, however for now it is just good to see him find his feet at club level after some were doubting his ability in the top flight after a few ropey performances last season.
