Rangers make late move for NUFC outcast – TWO clubs also keen – Report

According to The Mirror, Steven Gerrard is trying to sign Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons – with Hull City and AEK Athens also keen.

It is not yet known if this would be a loan or permanent deal, but with the Scottish transfer deadline being this Friday, it seems a move to the SPL may be a much needed escape route for the 22-year-old.

Here’s a snippet from The Mirror’s piece, confirming that the ex-Liverpool legend – and two others – are now considering a move for the winger:

“Steve Gerrard has added Newcastle’s Rolando Aarons to his list of Rangers targets ahead of Friday’s Scottish transfer deadline.

“Rangers are battling with Hull City and Greek side AEK Athens to land the 22 year-old winger.”

In the past I was in favour of only loaning Aarons out, feeling as though he was a talent worth persevering with, but I now get the feeling Rafa is happy to cash in.

Kenedy, Ritchie, Atsu and Murphy are all ahead of him in the pecking order and he failed to impress during a recent loan spell on Italy (or over pre-season), so I struggle to see how he gets his break from here.
