First-team duo nowhere to be seen in training – & top youngster handed big chance by Benitez..

The official club website have released footage of the players in training today, and Yoshinori Muto and Jonjo Shelvey are nowhere to be seen – with it looking increasingly likely that the both will NOT be fit in time to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

Interestingly, it looks like Benitez has also handed in-form NUFC youngster Elias Sorensen a chance to impress him in first-team training, with the 19-year-old striker pictured mixing it with the senior side this morning.

Sorensen is the top scorer in the Premier League 2, having already got himself into double figures for the season at U-23 level

On a slightly more negative note, the absence of Muto and Shelvey tells me that neither will be ready to play on Saturday.

It’s good to see Lascelles in the training pictures, but it almost seemed inevitable that the above duo would miss out, with Rafa admitting just a few days ago that it would be ‘hard’ for them to be ready in time for this weekend after picking up muscle injuries against Watford.

Thankfully, Ki and Perez came on and did the business last weekend, so let’s hope they can continue that form on Saturday – as it looks like they’ll be the two to fill Shelvey and Muto’s spots in the side.
